They just keep winning.
So far this year, the Westford Academy boys and girls swimming teams have taken care of business against the competition. In doing so, the boys team is currently 6-0 while the Lady Grey Ghosts have compiled a record of 4-0.
Last week, both teams had no trouble with Waltham as the boys earned a 99-58 victory while the girls swam to a 104-73 win.
On the boys side, Jack Koravos and Jimmy Cummings were double winners and the Grey Ghosts were victorious in all three relay events.
Koravos was impressive as we out swam the competition in the 200 free (1:51.99) and also won the 100 backstroke (58.48). Not to be outdone was Cummings as he won the diving with 157 points and also touched first in the 500 free.
Other individual first-place finishes for WA included: Henry Jiang (200 IM, 2:17.03), Tim Edison (50 free, 23.69), Zack Kettering (100 butterfly, 1:04.72), Justin Yao (100 free, 53.15) and Jeffrey Yao (100 breaststroke, 1:12.81).
On the girls side, nine different individuals recorded first-place finishes while all three relay teams were victorious for the Lady Grey Ghosts.
Earning first-place finishes including: Jayne Pilachowski (200 free, 2:09.28), Maria Rochon (200 IM, 2:24.22), Jen Marrkand (50 free, 25.59) Hannah Rosenstein (diving, 178.6), Kelly Huber (100 butterfly, 1:03.16), Rachel Zhang (100 free, 1:05.22), Grace Gosselin (200 free, 5:56.97), Carol Gu (100 backstroke, 1:08.25) and Melissa Durkin (100 breaststroke, 1:17.14).
Gymnastics
The Westford Academy gymnastics team ran its record to 4-1 last week with an impressive 133.7-124.65 victory over Lowell High.
Leading the way for the Lady Grey Ghosts was Ashley Craig who won the vault with a score of 9.25. Craig also came in second on bars with an 8.4 and second on floor with an 8.6.
Boys hockey
They have played twice this year with the same result in both meetings.
The Chelmsford High boys hockey game broke open a 1-1 game with three consecutive goals and cruised to a 4-1 victory over Westford Academy on Saturday night at the Chelmsford Forum.
The lone goal scorer in this one for WA was Jay Drapeau.
